7th Stop : Cut Down Papers NOT Trees
Maybank's statement envelope |
Every year hundreds of trees are cut down to produce tonnes of paper statements which are thrown away into the waste paper basket just without any feelings by the recipients. So in order to reduce the usage of paper its good to support a well known bank ; the Maybank's effort. By this everyone will be enlighten about the importance of preserving and conserving today's environment for tomorrow's generation.

2nd Stop: This year's theme-Green
Yes as you can see, it is clearly mentioned up there that this year's theme is GREEN. We believe that this theme brings a message to each and everyone of us. No, not painting ourselves green, or start saying the word green to everyone you see, but to start or continue loving our MOTHER NATURE. Humans are said to be the manager or the environment because we are given minds to think. So everyone, start thinking. Stop misusing the mind. Mother nature had given us so much. One good example. Oxygen. Without it, how can we breathe and continue living, so guys, it is very obvious already that Mother nature is seriously important and in fact precious to us. We should start loving it by giving something back, like planting more trees at home, stop open burning, car pooling, control the usage of plastic bags and more.
Speaking about plastic bags, here's a little fact about it.
By LIM CHIA YING chiaying@thestar.com.my
It has been slightly over a year now since the Selangor government started its ‘No Plastic Bag Day’ campaign on Saturdays.
Selangor Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment committee chairman Elizabeth Wong said the response had been good, with calls by several retailers to increase the number of days for the campaign.
“Initially, there were some hiccups and they were concerned whether they could actually do it or not,” said Wong.
“However, the retailers have now become one of our strongest advocates and some even embarked on their own initiative, like AEON where after three to four months of joining the campaign, has called for their Jusco outlets in Kuala Lumpur to be part of it too.
For wider coverage of the campaign to include sundry shops and neighbourhood grocery stores, local councils and the Housing and Local Government Ministry need to be involved,” she said.
“Some small retailers have stopped giving plastic bags completely and have substituted this with paper bags instead.
